English Teachers’ Basic Skills Contest
In order to improve the teaching level and basic quality of English teachers in Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junir High School Division of the east campus, and promote the innovation and development of English education and teaching, Anqing Foreign Language School held a basic skills competition for teachers, aiming to promote the improvement of English teaching quality by demonstrating the contestants' basic teaching skills, such as their pronunciation and intonation, oral expression, classroom organization, teaching design, evaluation and feedback.
First and foremost, this competition mainly includes four parts as follows: pronunciation and intonation, oral expression, classroom organization, teaching design in addition to evaluation and feedback. Also, the competition format is a combination of live presentations and judges' comments.
Furthermore, during the competition, the performance of the teachers had its own characteristics and highlights. For instance, Some teachers showcased their beautiful voice and intonation as well as smooth and natural oral expression while some demonstrated well-organized classroom teaching and innovative teaching methods.
In summary, through this competition, we have more in-depth understanding of the significance of the basic skills of English teachers, and more clearly see the future development direction of English education and teaching. Meanwhile, we should also reflect on the problems and shortcomings in our teaching, and constantly learn and reinforce our basic teaching skills, because only in this way can we better contribute our strength to the cause of English teaching.
